Confessions of Two Law Geek Fashionistas

{May 16, 2008}   Papillio Birkenstocks

I have a strange, lasting affair with Birkenstocks due to various reasons, mainly Comfort and Screwy Feet.

My old pair (Papillio Gizeh Baroque Art Dalia, 06 collection) was nearly totally dead – the heel was half worn out and was making me walk on the outsides of my feet which made my legs ache in the end. I also have another really old pair of Betulas that I’m probably going to trash as well because they are worn out and are also ugly. So… in 2 days, I bought these two:

Papillio Gizeh Baroque Art Dalia (A.K.A. the same pair as my old one), $99 at Wheelock, original price $129.

Papillio Gizeh Garden Party White, $77.40 at World of Sports at Plaza Singapura, original $129. (nearly all Birkenstocks at 40% off, which is a really good deal. A lot of ’07 collection designs, they also had Floridas)

I also like these:

Gizeh Nepalese Orchid (06 collection). Had ‘em at World of Sports, but not in my size.

I still think it is mad to pay so much for a pair of flats.

zark says:

well if she wears them till they’re worn out, let’s say for six years, it works out to —

$129/12×6 = 1.8 (rounded off) per month per year
and this is at the original price!
furthermore, it makes sense to have comfy shoes especially if you have sensitive or wonky feet. :) Good shoes are always worth the moolah!
